Wood Stain Remover

From butcher block counters to hardwood floors, from paneled walls to kitchen cabinets, from bookcases to furniture, from musical instruments to ornate frames and carvings, to outdoor decks, fences, picnic tables, porch swings, and log cabins – the uses of wood are endless.

Wood surfaces have a natural beauty that most of us love, and many hobbyists and do-it-yourselfers love working with the beautiful grains, qualities and colors available, whether building a shelf, carving a headboard or making a simple picture frame.

Water is wood’s public enemy #1. Water will warp, swell and erode anything wooden, and can leave watermarks and stains on wood surfaces, whether or not they have been sealed. These water stains show up as white rings, and are frequently caused by putting down a wet cup or glass on a wooden surface. (If your wood develops black spots, this means the water has gotten underneath the varnish or lacquer finish, and probably caused mold. You will probably have to sand and refinish the wood to get rid of these black spots.)

TIP: To avoid water stains, wipe up spills as soon as they happen, and place glasses on coasters instead of directly on wood.

But water isn’t the only culprit for unsightly spots on wood. Grease and oil leave dark stains. Pens and markers leave their mark, a melted candle leaves a wax stain, spilled polish, drops of red wine, a spot of nail polish, a plop of guacamole, a dropped burger on the deck, paint, spilled varnish . . . the list goes on.
