Concrete Stain Removal
The terms cement and concrete are often used interchangeably; however, cement is actually an ingredient of concrete. It is a fine, powdery substance made from natural materials such as limestone, clay or shale, which, when mixed with water, forms a past that holds the aggregates that make up the balance of the concrete together. Those aggregates are usually a mixture of sand and gravel or crushed stone. Through a process called “hydration”, the cement and water harden and bind the aggregates into a rocklike mass which gets harder as it gets older.
Although many of us refer to “cement” driveways or sidewalks, and call the big mixing truck a “cement” mixer; those terms aren’t actually correct. It’s all concrete! But no matter what we call it, when stuff gets spilled on it, it stains! And it’s hard to get those spots out whether they show up on the sidewalk in front of your house, in your driveway, on your garage floor, in your basement, or on your front steps or stairs or porch.
Goof Off® Heavy Duty is The Miracle Remover!® that easily and quickly handles the concrete stains and messes other cleaners can’t. This powerful solvent penetrates and dissolves stains and sticky messes. Simply apply Goof Off® to the affected area, agitate with a stiff brush to get beneath the surface and into the “pores” of the concrete, and then rinse with a hose. It’s that simple. Goof Off® is effective at removing almost any sidewalk, driveway, floor, patio, porch or wall stains including:
Removing concrete stains is important for looks but also if you plan to paint, stain, or seal the surface. Stained areas can prevent paint or sealants from adhering properly, and leave you with an uneven finish and areas of discoloration.
TIP: Before painting or sealing concrete, check to make sure you have thoroughly removed stains, by wetting the area. If the water “beads up”, it’s a sign you need to do more cleaning!
To thoroughly and completely remove cement and concrete stains with just one application and no oily residue to interfere with coatings, sealing or paint, use Goof Off® Heavy Duty, The Miracle Remover!® that gets out the tough stuff.
