"One day a can of wood stain, that had been sitting on the dryer downstairs fell or was knocked off onto the floor. Unfortunately the top came off the can and some of the stain splashed onto a basket of clothes. Of course it couldn't be dark clothes in the basket or they could have even been my clothes, but nooooo!!, these were white clothes, and what's worse… THEY WERE MY WIFE'S CLOTHES.

A brand new pair of white pants that she'd only worn once sustained the most damage. I knew I didn't have long to live if I didn't act quickly. I tried paint thinner, turpentine and some other stuff but none seemed to have an effect on the stain. As a last resort I tried some Goof Off. If this didn't work, I knew I was a goner. She had already seen the damage to her clothes and although she was trying to hide it. ... I knew I didn't have much time.

I feverishly applied the goof off to a spot on the pants. At first nothing happened. I applied a little more and waited a little while and began to scrub the area, wait.., it looks like a little came out. I put a little more on and scrubbed a little harder… hey, I think this is going to work, the stain is coming out!!!!!

I applied more of the goof off on the other spots and scrubbed until my hands were sore, but I got the stains out and breathed a sigh of relief. I continued with the other clothes, 2 white blouses, one gold and white blouse and another piece of clothing, all white or mostly white and all her clothes, of course. But thank the Lord, the stains all came out. I rinsed everything in the sink and then put them all in the washer.

I tentatively asked her to look at the pants after all my hard work and thankfully she said she thought they would be ok... and granted me another day of life (I'm not sure but I think I saw a disappointed look on her face). Take this warning from me, make sure you put your paints and stains away ... I am so thankful to the Goof Off people. They'll never know that they saved a life yesterday."

Dear W. M. Barr, I own an older home in Windham, Maine which has a well providing our water. Many year's I've had to deal with ugly hard rust stains on my white clothing, tub, toilet. I've installed filter's on both hot and cold water supplies but yet my water still stain's everything.
